This project consults the youth of Kenya on the Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) agenda, especially in informing the process of developing a National Action Plan (NAP) — helping ensure a coordinated, collaborative process for youth-led groups to shape and contribute meaningfully to it.
Efforts by young people and other stakeholders to implement the YPS Agenda in Kenya are often siloed and difficult to upscale to the national level. These consultations, once fully operationalised, help ensure the transformative intent of UN Security Council Resolutions 2250, 2419 and 2535 — which recognise youth as partners and agents of peace and call for their participation at every level of decision-making on peace, security, and governance.
As set out in Kenya’s Youth Development Policy (2019), this creates a clear, deliberate pathway for youth to participate in national policy-shaping processes.
